Marillier hits record highest individual score of 188 not out as Horsford win
Stow reached the final of the first ever Bob Carter/NACO Cup with a win over local rivals North Runcton and will play Horsford in the final. Runcton batting first were restricted to 153 for 8 off 40 overs with captain Keith Thompson taking 3 for 20 and for Runcton Mark Skipper scored 51. In reply Ed Landymore hit for 55 and was ably assisted by Will Denny 59 as Stow reached their target to win by 6 wickets.
In the other semi-final at Horsford S Marillier for Horsford hit an astonishing 188 not out which is the highest ever individual score in any of the Carter/NACO Competition’s history as the home team raced to 293 for 4; in reply Fakenham put up a valiant effort to reach for 235 for 6 wickets to lose by 58 runs.
Sprowston won the relegation match in the Bob Carter NACO cup loser’s semi-final; Lowestoft batting first made 71 for 8 wickets and in reply Sprowston reached their target to win by 7 wickets in a match reduced to 20 overs per side.
The other relegation match between Ashmanaugh & Barton Wanderers v Great Witchingham originally fell foul to the weather but in the game which was played on Sunday 12 July, The Witches won by 154 runs – Great Witchingham batted first in a reduced overs game and scored 314 for 4, with Sam Arthurton 148 and James Spelman 100 the mainstays of their innings; in reply ABW reached 160 for 8 and will now play Lowestoft at home in the Losers final.
