Carter Cup 1st Round 3 May 2015
After the balmy April weather the inevitable happened on the day of the 1st Round of the 2015 Carter Cup; in one word RAIN.
However on a rain affected day all but two of the 1st round games were played, however in all cases the games were shortened due to the inclement weather.
1st Round Results

Diss v Ashmanaugh & Barton Wanderers – Diss won by 5 wickets; ABW 134 for 8; Diss 135 for 5.
Downham v Fakenham – Downham won by 10 wickets; Fakenham 60 All Out P Barnard 5 for 14;

Swardeston v Stow – Swardeston won by 9 wickets; Stow 72 All Out T Islam 4 for 7; Swardeston 74 for 1 wicket.
North Runcton v Vauxhall Mallards – Vauxhall Mallards won by 9 wickets; North Runcton 199 for 8 wkts; Matt Skipper 94; Vauxhall Mallards 200 for 1 wkt; Harry Barker 91 Not Out Brett Stolworthy 63 – 2nd wicket stand of 135 runs.
Norwich v Sprowston – Norwich won by 7 wickets; Sprowston 116 All Out; F Sutton 21, P Glozier 30, Aarron Watson 2 for 19, Ashley Watson 2 for 10; Norwich 117 for 3 wickets; R Emmanuel 31, O Higenbotham 32, R Purton 2 for 31
Lowestoft v Brooke – Brooke won by 29 runs; Brooke 206 for 9 wkts; Rob Porter 74, M Bishop 5 for 31; Lowestoft 177 for 8 wickets; Tom Brice 67, Marcus Bishop 29.
The day’s highlights included Harry Barker’s 91 not out and Brett Stolworthy 63 and a 135 run 2nd wicket stand in Vauxhall Mallards 9 wicket win over North Runcton.
The West Norfolk derby between Downham and Fakenham produced a 10 wicket win for Downham with fine individual performances from P Barnard 5 for 14 and an all round performance from Ian Harrison who took 3 for 20 with the ball and then hit 22 not out in the Downham innings; T Tansley also scored 32 not out in Downham’s run chase.
T Islam turned in a fine 4 for 7 with the ball in Swardeston’s 9 wicket vicory over Stow.
R Emmanuel hit 4 huge sixes in his 31 in Norwich’s reply to Sprowston’s 116 All Out, Ollie Higenbotham also joined in the fun with a hard hitting 32 as Norwich stormed to a 7 wicket win off 17.3 overs against Sprowston who were dismissed for 116 of 40 overs. Rob Purton took 2 for 31 for Sprowston who unfortunately didn’t enjoy the best of the conditions after winning the toss and electing to bat first.
Brooke beat Lowestoft by 29 runs in another match reduced to 40 overs; batting first Brooke made 206 for 9 with Rob Porter top scoring with 74, Marcus Bishop picking up a creditable 5 for 31; Lowestoft fell 29 runs short with Tom Brice hitting 67 not out and Bishop hitting a spirited 29 to pick up the man of the match award.
The draw for the 2nd Round will be made on Radio Norfolk on Friday 8 May 2015.
