The first round of the Carter Cup was played on 30 April 2017 with Swardeston the holders beating fellow EAPL side by 33 runs – for Swardeston Joe Gatting made 100 and in the Mallards innings Eccles took 4 for 32.
Elsewhere major performances came from Pat Yates of Downham Town 118 not out in their win over North Runcton whose Mark Skipper scored a fine 103.
Other centurions included Rob Thurley from Old Buckenham who scored 102 and topped a fine all round performance taking 4 for 32 in the Garboldisham innings – Nick Pentz also weighed in with 86 for Old Bucks.
Geoff Handley hit 105 in Acles impressive 360 for 5 against Ashmanaugh & Barton Wanderers who were bowled out for 102 in reply.
Will Dunger from Fakenham was back to his bowling best with 6 for 19 against Bradfield and Will Darnell hit 85 for Norwich against Cromer.
